About Me

My name is Melissa Buckman. I’m a recent journalism and film studies graduate of the University of Georgia who now enjoys the fruits of unemployment. I’m the former opinions editor of UGA’s independently run student newspaper, The Red and Black.

This blog is about my life and the things, small and large, that shape it.

Behind the name “Screw you, I’m Hilarious” is my favorite television series of all time, “Freaks and Geeks”:

NEAL SCHWEIBER: “My mom says women prefer guys with a good sense of humor.”

BILL HAVERCHUCK: “But, uh, you’re not funny.”

NEAL SCHWEIBER: “Screw you, I’m hilarious!”

I’m a sort of lady version of Neal, you see…

Seriously you sound like a sweat heart and you have a gorgeous smile. Something says, “Keeper.” Maybe its the fact that you seem to enjoy a good fratmoshpere. If you ever want a pen pal I’m in, just holler. I’ll send you cutesy hand written letters.

  3. 10pts for the Freaks and Geeks reference! Probably the best thing I’ve ever seen on television.

  4. Soooo, I super love your blog. I’m currently in the process of recruiting talented young female writers to contribute (funny) weekly columns to the website I work for. How do I get in touch with you!
